Ahmedabad: An Australian education department delegation will visit Ahmedabad as a part of its India visit beginning from July 6 in the backdrop of numerous racial attacks on Indian students in that country.

The delegation led by Colin Walters, a senior official from Australian Department of Eduction, will be in Ahmedabad on July 7, a release of the Australian Embassy said.

The team members include representatives of Australia's education and training sector, federal and state government agencies, including the Victorian State Police.

The delegation will listen to the concerns of Indian officials, parents and students and present details of the initiatives that have been taken in Australia to enhance the well-being of international students, it said.

'The delegation's visit offers the opportunity to reassure the Government, the students and the Indian public that we are committed to ensuring the security and well-being of Indian students in Australia,' Australian High Commissioner John McCarthy was quoted as saying in the release.

'By listening to the views of the government officials, parents and students, the delegation will be able to better inform initiatives designed to assist Indian students presently studying or contemplating studying in Australia,' McCarthy added
