Chennai: A two-day surgical training programme on advanced gynecomastia surgery and male chest contouring was held in Chennai, combining live surgical demonstrations, scientific discussions and supervised hands-on learning for plastic surgeons.
The second edition of Chest Sculpt 2.0, organised by Chennai Plastic Surgery (CPS), was led by plastic surgeon and CPS Managing Director Dr Karthik Ram.
The programme focused on the clinical reasoning behind surgical decisions, including patient assessment, preoperative markings, evaluation of glandular and fatty tissue, contour planning, selection of techniques and changes to the surgical plan during procedures.
The first day featured three live gynecomastia surgery cases, allowing participants to observe the process from clinical assessment and surgical planning to operative decision-making and final contouring.
Discussions covered liposuction strategies, glandular tissue management, chest definition, symmetry and prevention and management of contour irregularities.
The second day focused on supervised hands-on surgical training involving six cases. Eligible participating plastic surgeons received practical exposure under faculty supervision, subject to participant eligibility, patient selection, informed consent and applicable clinical safety protocols.
The programme also included scientific sessions and peer discussions on clinical cases, surgical approaches and challenges in gynecomastia correction.
“The aim of Chest Sculpt is to make surgical learning practical. We want participating surgeons to see how we assess a patient, understand why a particular plan is chosen, watch that plan being executed and then apply those principles under supervision,” Ram said.
Gynecomastia correction can involve different combinations of liposuction, glandular tissue removal and chest contouring, depending on the patient's anatomy and clinical condition.
CPS said the programme was designed as a continuing platform for focused education, practical training and knowledge exchange in gynecomastia surgery and male chest contouring.
