Chennai: The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) organized a two-day training program on "Chemical and Petrochemical Industrial Safety" from January 23-24, 2025, at Tamil Virtual Academy, Kotturpuram.
The event was inaugurated by CIPET Director General Prof. (Dr.) Shishir Sinha.
The program, part of the Government of India's 100-Day Action Plan under Viksit Bharat@2047, trained 113 participants from 65 Major Accident Hazard (MAH) units. It emphasized strengthening safety measures in the chemicals and petrochemicals industry, a key sector contributing to national economic growth but fraught with inherent risks.
CIPET, operating under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, is dedicated to skill development, research, and safety training.
The Chennai session marked the fourth in a series to train professionals from 2,393 MAH units nationwide, equipping them with tools to enhance workplace safety and environmental sustainability.
