New Delhi: The Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2026 was delayed at some examination centres on Saturday due to a technical glitch, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said.
The agency said the issue had since been resolved and candidates were being given full compensatory time to ensure that no student was disadvantaged.
"TCS has reported that a technical glitch at their end delayed the commencement of CUET UG 2026 at some centres on Saturday. The issue has since been resolved," the NTA said in a post on X.
According to the revised schedule issued by the agency, reporting and entry for the afternoon session began from 2.30 pm, while the examination commenced at 4 pm instead of the earlier scheduled time of 3 pm.
The NTA said morning session candidates were also being provided the full duration of the examination and would be allowed to leave only after completion of the test.
"NTA sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students and parents," the agency said.
The testing agency also issued a helpline number and email support for students seeking assistance.
Several students and parents took to social media platform X to report delays and alleged lack of communication at examination centres.
Some users claimed candidates had to wait for hours in extreme heat without updates regarding the commencement of the examination.
The CUET-UG is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the NTA for admission to undergraduate programmes in central, state and select private universities.
Since its introduction in 2022, the examination has witnessed several operational disruptions, including delays, last-minute changes in centres, technical glitches and rescheduling of tests at some locations.
The examination has been conducted in computer-based test mode since 2025.
