New Delhi: The Delhi government has extended the benefits of the Mukhyamantri Khel Prothsahan Yojana (MKPY) to athletes who participated in the 68th National School Games, officials said on Thursday.
Launched in July, the MKPY scheme supports budding and elite sportspersons with financial aid, training assistance, and rewards for national and international achievements.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) announced that students who took part in the April 2025 National School Games are eligible to apply online through the DoE sports portal and must submit hard copies of applications with documents to Chhatrasal Stadium, Model Town, by November 17.
Under the scheme, school-level athletes can receive up to ₹5 lakh annually for coaching, equipment, travel, and nutrition, while elite athletes are eligible for up to ₹20 lakh. Additionally, medical insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh for students and ₹10 lakh for elite athletes is provided.
The government will also award cash incentives to medal winners in national and international events, though not for ranking tournaments or competitions with fewer than five countries.
The initiative aims to strengthen Delhi's sports ecosystem and nurture young talent.
