Chennai: The unclaimed original Higher Secondary mark certificates of candidates who appeared for the Second Year Public Examination and its Supplementary Examinations from March 2014 to September 2018 will be destroyed, said the Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu.

The announcement was earlier published as a public notification in the Tamil Nadu Gazette No. 34 dated August 27, 2025.

In the interest of the candidates, a final grace period of three months—from October 10, 2025, to January 10, 2026—has been granted. During this period, candidates may claim their certificates either in person at the Directorate of Government Examinations, Chennai-6, or by applying to the Deputy Director (Higher Education) with a self-addressed envelope bearing a postage stamp worth ₹45, along with valid identity proof such as the admit card.

The Deputy Director (Higher Education) is located at Professor Anbazhagan Educational Complex, College Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai-6.

The notification applies exclusively to private candidates of the above-mentioned examination periods.

Candidates failing to claim their certificates within the stipulated time will forfeit them, and the certificates will be destroyed without further notice, said the Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu.
