New Delhi: Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, on Friday inaugurated the two-day National Service Scheme (NSS) National Convention at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi—marking the return of the convention after 15 years. Over 200 NSS officers from across the country are participating in the event.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mandaviya underscored the importance of reimagining 'Seva' (service) in light of modern global challenges. Calling for a new era of youth-driven activism, he said, “In the digital era, the meaning of 'Seva' must transform. Youth must lead in environmental activism and heritage preservation. Experiential learning should go hand in hand with Seva.”
Highlighting the role of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), launched in 2023, he described it as a national platform to channel youth energy into nation-building. He urged all stakeholders to unite in empowering young citizens to contribute to a 'Viksit Bharat'.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Mandaviya chaired the National NSS Advisory Council meeting, which included eminent personalities and representatives from NCC, UGC, AICTE, CBSE, and academia. Key resolutions included revamping NSS SOPs, linking volunteerism with employability, and exploring NSS-NCC integration under MY Bharat.
The convention features breakout sessions, best practice presentations, and interactive discussions aimed at shaping the MY Bharat National Action Framework. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transforming NSS into a vibrant platform promoting civic responsibility and progressive youth engagement.
