Chennai: Early encouragement and inclusive workplace practices are crucial to retaining women in India's technology sector, according to a new report released by Logitech under its MX #WomenWhoMaster initiative.

Titled “What is Next for Working Women in Technology in India?”, the study highlights persistent barriers—such as microaggressions, lack of early inspiration, and limited support networks—that hinder the advancement of women in tech. Conducted by Ipsos through surveys and interviews with developers and IT professionals, the report offers insights into addressing gender disparities in STEM.

Despite a growing female presence in the tech workforce, women still represent only 33% of the overall Indian workforce. The report found that 44% of women regularly face microaggressions in academic and professional settings, with 86% aware of women leaving careers due to misogyny.

Moninder Jain, Vice-President and Head of Emerging Markets at Logitech, said, “By raising awareness and building strong communities, we aim to create a thriving and equitable industry for all.”

Logitech, in partnership with Women in Tech India, outlined three key areas for intervention: addressing microaggressions through allyship training, promoting early STEM exposure through school programs and teacher training, and improving retention via mentorship and networking opportunities.

Radhika Yuvraj Iyengar, Country Head of Women in Tech India, said tackling the gender gap requires understanding its complex roots. “By working closely with Logitech, we can create a more inclusive tech ecosystem for women in India,” she added.

The report also recommends collaboration between academia and industry to foster long-term gender equity.
