New Delhi: Education is the most powerful instrument of change and must continuously evolve to meet contemporary needs, Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said on Thursday, emphasising innovation, research and entrepreneurship as key to achieving a developed India by 2047.

He was addressing students during the second session of “Coffee with Vice-Chancellor” at Hansraj College, where he interacted with participants on issues ranging from academic reforms and administration to personal experiences.

Singh said the present generation would play a decisive role in realising the vision of 'Viksit Bharat@2047', noting that the next two decades would be critical in shaping the country's future.

Highlighting recent initiatives, he referred to the university's first Literary Festival, describing it as an effort to bring together the diverse academic community on a common platform, with plans to make it an annual event.

On the National Education Policy 2020, he said education must remain student-centric and focused on creating better individuals while promoting technology and research.

Responding to queries, Singh said the introduction of a fourth year in undergraduate programmes aims to encourage research orientation among students.

He also advised judicious use of artificial intelligence tools, saying they should assist learning without replacing core skills.
