Chennai: The registration process for admission to engineering courses in Tamil Nadu commenced on Sunday.

More than 400 engineering colleges are functioning under Anna University, offering over 2.54 lakh seats in B.E. and B.Tech programmes.

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), under the Higher Education Department, conducts the admissions annually through an online mode.

For the 2026-27 academic session, students can apply for engineering courses through the official website www.tneaonline.org on or before June 2.

Candidates without internet access can submit their applications at one of the 110 facilitation centres set up across the state.

The detailed application procedure has been made available on the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) portal.

Applicants are required to furnish 16 documents, including the EMIS number, Class 10 mark certificate, and Class 12 examination registration number, among others.

The schedule for counselling will be announced later, DoTE said.

In a new initiative this year, candidates will be able to compare cut-off marks of the past five years to assess their chances of securing seats in specific colleges and courses. Additionally, data on student intake across various engineering disciplines over the last five years has also been made accessible.
