Hyderabad: A four-year-old nursery student was allegedly assaulted by a female helper at a school in Hyderabad, police said on Sunday.

The incident came to light after the child's parents lodged a complaint, prompting authorities to register a case against the staffer, who was subsequently taken into custody.

A video of the alleged assault, circulated widely on social media, reportedly shows the attendant hitting the child and pushing her to the ground. The girl's parents claimed the attack was deliberate.

“Based on the complaint, a case has been registered, and the accused has been taken into custody,” an official from Jeedimetla police station said.

Police added that further investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances of the incident, including the possible involvement of school authorities or negligence in supervision.

The case has sparked outrage among parents and local residents, with calls for strict action against the accused and better monitoring of school staff, especially those entrusted with the care of young children.

Authorities have assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, and necessary measures will be taken to ensure child safety at educational institutions.
