Chennai: The registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, a prerequisite for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes in premier institutions such as the IITs and NITs, commenced on Thursday.

The GATE 2026 examination is conducted annually for candidates aspiring to pursue postgraduate degrees in engineering and technology at centrally funded higher education institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The exam scores are also widely accepted for recruitment by several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

According to organisers, applicants can register online through the official website, https://gate2026.iitg.ac.in, until September 28.

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is the organising institute for the upcoming edition of the examination.
