Panaji: Supreme Court Chief Justice PR Kawai has said that success is determined more by hard work and dedication than by exam results.
Speaking at the golden jubilee function of V.M. Salokar Law College in Miramar, Goa, he said students should not rely solely on their academic rankings to gauge future success.
Recalling his own college days, Chief Justice Kawai said he attended classes only half the time in his final year at law college. “I studied here for two years and have many fond memories of Panaji. The beach attracted us more than the college library,” he said.
He added that after shifting to Amaravati, he graduated third in the merit list, while his friend ranked second and another student first. “The student who stood first became a criminal lawyer specializing in bail. The second became a district judge and rose to the High Court. I was third, and today I am the Chief Justice of India,” he said.
“Do not depend on your rank. Exam results do not determine the success you will achieve. Hard work and dedication will,” Chief Justice Kawai emphasized.
