Haryana to have regional campus of English

Chandigarh: The Haryana Government will establish a Regional Campus of English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad (EFLU) in Meham to develop communication skill of students of state so as to make them globally competitive.
The Higher Education Department stated that for this purpose 50 acres of land was being purchased by the department. The EFLU had already agreed to establish its campus in the State.
He said that English Labs were also being set up in 25 Government Colleges, which are to be developed as Centres of Excellence.
It had become imperative to lay proper emphasis on learning English Language and its usage in this era of globalisation. These English Labs would be highly beneficial for the students as these would enable the students in terms of self learning.
Communicative English as add on course too would be introduced and a certificate would be awarded for first year, a diploma for second year and advance diploma for third year pass out students, he added.
To achieve excellence in higher education had been avowed aim of the State Government, said the spokesman, adding that to provide excellence in academics and infrastructure, as many as 25 Government and 45 Government Aided Private Colleges had been identified to be upgraded as the Centres of Excellence.
