Chennai: A medico has challenged the decision of Standing Academic Board (SAB), December last year to abolish the revaluation system for undergraduate courses.
In his appeal, D. Shankar of Peramanoor, Salem, stated that he had appeared for the III MBBS part I examinations in three subjects, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and community medicine in February this year and secured 65.3 per cent in the first two subjects and secured only 58 per cent in the third and failed.
In an unusual result nearly 150 out of the total 1400 students in all colleges failed in the subject that required thorough investigation and reorganizing valuation system.
The SAB decided to do away with revaluation for undergraduate courses without any consideration, at its meeting on December 26, 2008.
He approached the court to do away with the system and consequently direct the authorities to revalue the failed papers.
