Tiruchirappalli: Students of the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli marked the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign with a week-long initiative, 'Swacchotsav,' featuring awareness programmes, campus clean-up drives and outreach activities in the community.

The highlight of the campaign was interactive awareness sessions conducted at Bishop Heber College and the Government Higher Secondary School, Mathur. The sessions, led by IIMT student volunteers, went beyond lectures, incorporating quizzes and a collective cleanliness pledge to encourage behavioural change among students. Faculty members also participated in the oath, reinforcing the message of shared responsibility for hygiene.

“The session was very interactive and focused on how IIM Tiruchirappalli has consistently championed cleanliness. The response from students and teachers was overwhelming,” said a student volunteer. Another volunteer noted the enthusiastic participation from staff and students, adding that curiosity even drew in students outside the classroom and faculty from other departments.

On campus, students organised cleaning and space-organisation drives, extending similar activities to the Mandaiyur Primary Health Centre and Chinna Sooriyur village. These efforts were aimed at fostering awareness and instilling civic responsibility beyond the institute's boundaries.

The campaign concluded with a renewed commitment by the IIMT community to pursue cleanliness as a way of respecting both people and the environment. Officials said the initiative sought to empower young ambassadors of cleanliness who could carry forward the message in their own communities.
