With an impressive registration count of over 50,700, the NPTEL-GATE portal serves as a comprehensive platform offering access to GATE questions from 2007 to 2022, spanning more than 16 years of exam topics. Over the past year, there has been a substantial increase in student engagement with the portal's extensive exam preparation programs.Jointly initiated by various IITs, including IIT Madras and IISc Bengaluru, the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) sponsors this GATE portal, which was launched in August 2022 with the support of Amadeus Labs Bengaluru.The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious national-level examination that evaluates candidates' comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, and Humanities. GATE qualifiers can pursue admission to Master’s and direct Doctoral programs with potential financial assistance.In 2023, around 7 lakh students registered for the GATE exam, with approximately one lakh students successfully qualifying.Prof. Andrew Thangaraj, Coordinator, NPTEL-IIT Madras, emphasized the NPTEL-GATE portal's positive impact, stating, “The NPTEL-GATE portal provides numerous benefits for GATE aspirants, offering all these features for free and democratizing access to high-quality educational content.”The NPTEL-GATE portal offers access to previous years' questions (PYQs) from 2007-2022, covering 16+ years of GATE exam topics. From August 2022 to February 2023, students completed 115 mock tests across six key subjects, including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Physics, and Chemistry.In the current semester, which commenced on October 15, 2023, 19 mock tests have been completed across seven subjects, including Biotechnology.Live preparation sessions have garnered high praise, with 3,975 students participating in 521 Phase I sessions and 3,321 students in 367 Phase II sessions. Phase III live sessions are currently ongoing, providing interactive lessons covering essential GATE topics in various fields.Mr. Ram Balaji, the #1 GATE rank holder in 2022, commended the NPTEL-GATE portal for its video solutions, tips, tricks, and precise content mapping to the syllabus. Shantanu Dhara, GATE Rank 318, found it helpful for conceptual study and question-solving. Gaurav Bholanath Mungekar, a student from Maharashtra, with GATE Rank 894, praised the portal for its in-depth explanations of previous years' questions and motivating assignments.
