Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) has announced a free, nine-day residential training programme in STEM subjects and biotechnology for college faculty across India.
Organised under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP) in partnership with BodhBridge Education, the initiative is open to faculty teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biotechnology. Each batch will have 50 participants, with sessions held at the TLC Hall and Central Library on the IIT Madras campus.
The training will combine fundamental and advanced topics with practical lab sessions, innovative teaching methods, and exposure to frontier research. It will also focus on developing inquiry-based curricula, interdisciplinary approaches, skill development, research and innovation in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
Prof. Edamana Prasad, Chairman, TLC, said the programme is aimed at elevating teaching effectiveness, improving student learning outcomes, encouraging enrolment in STEM disciplines, and fostering diversity and inclusion. Assessment and certification will be conducted under the MMTTP framework.
The schedule begins with the biotechnology module from August 22-30, followed by chemistry (October 7-17), physics batch 1 (November 11-19), physics batch 2 (November 20-28) and mathematics (December 15-24).
IIT Madras, recognised as an Institution of Eminence, has topped the 'Overall' category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework for six consecutive years and the 'Engineering Institutions' category for nine consecutive years.
