Puducherry: The Department of Emergency Medicine and Trauma of the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) on Friday conducted Hands-Only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training for 200 newly admitted B.Tech students of Pondicherry University.
The session was organised as part of the university's orientation programme, a release said.
The JIPMER emergency team led the programme through interactive demonstrations and hands-on practice, enabling every student to learn essential life-saving techniques. The training aimed at preparing the students to respond with confidence during medical emergencies.
Dr Manu Ayyan, EMS team lead, said one of JIPMER's goals was to equip the younger generation with critical first aid and emergency response skills. “This initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing a culture of responsibility, readiness and resilience in society,” he said.
Officials said the collaboration underlined JIPMER's wider mission of extending its expertise beyond hospital care to strengthen community health and safety.
