New Delhi: India secured eighth place in its debut participation at the WorldSkills Asia Competition (WSAC), winning one silver, two bronze medals, and three medallions for excellence, officials said.
The competition was held from November 27 to 29 in Chinese Taipei, featuring over 500 competitors from 29 countries across 44 skill categories. The Indian contingent comprised 23 participants who competed in 21 categories.
Women competitors were among India's standout performers, contributing significantly to the medal tally and highlighting the growing leadership of young women in the country's skilling ecosystem, an official statement said.
Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, “India's performance at WorldSkills Asia 2025 reflects the confidence, creativity, and discipline of our young talent. Every medal and recognition earned is a testament to the hard work of our competitors, the dedication of their trainers, and the growing strength of India's skills ecosystem.”
The competitors were selected through the IndiaSkills National Competition 2024 and underwent months of rigorous, industry-led training supported by academic institutions, sector skill councils, and global experts.
Officials said the debut performance underscores India's commitment to skill development and global competitiveness, while encouraging greater participation in international skill-based events.
WorldSkills Asia 2025 brought together top young talent from across the continent, providing a platform to showcase technical expertise, innovation, and professionalism in a variety of trades and professions.
