New Delhi: The government on Tuesday said India had organised a capacity-building programme for representatives of Central Asian Republics on countering the financing of terrorism through cryptocurrencies, crowdfunding and non-profit organisations.
The programme was held in New Delhi on April 21 and 22, 2025, by the Department of Revenue in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and the National Security Council Secretariat, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
He said experts from the FATF Cell, Financial Intelligence Unit-India, National Investigation Agency and Ministry of Home Affairs conducted sessions on detecting misuse of virtual assets, monitoring crowdfunding platforms and regulating NPOs.
Rai said India had shared technical expertise only during the April training and no further exchanges were held.
He added that India was planning similar programmes for BIMSTEC countries and continued cooperation through regional groups such as the APG and EAG.
