New Delhi: Indian long-distance runner Pooja Aatmaram has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for allegedly evading a dope test.
The 30-year-old athlete, who competes in the 5,000m and 10,000m events, has been charged under Article 2.3 of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code, which relates to refusing or failing to submit to sample collection without valid justification.
In a statement, the AIU said it had issued a notice of allegation against the athlete for “evading, refusing or failing to submit to sample collection”.
Pooja's notable performance includes a third-place finish at the Indian Grand Prix 2 in 2024, representing Rajasthan. She also competed in the National Cross Country Championships in Lucknow last year, where she finished 25th.
Under the rules, provisional suspension remains in force until the disciplinary process is completed.
