New Delhi: Renowned Indian Professor of Victimology, K. Chockalingam, has been awarded the Hans von Hentig Award by the World Society of Victimology.
This triennial award, named after the pioneer of Victimology, recognizes significant contributions to the field.
Dr. Chockalingam, a respected academician with over 50 years of experience, was the founding head of the Criminology Department at the University of Madras and has served as Vice Chancellor of Manomaniam Sundaranar University. He has also chaired the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development and currently teaches at R V University in Bengaluru.
His work has influenced policies, including the introduction of women-only buses in Tamil Nadu. The award will be presented at the 18th WSV International Symposium on Victimology in Gujarat this September.
