Puducherry: Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research conducted a state-level workshop on “MusQan” aimed at strengthening quality-oriented paediatric and neonatal healthcare services, officials said on Wednesday.

The workshop was organised by the Department of Nursing Services in collaboration with the Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology at the institute premises on Tuesday as part of efforts towards achieving MusQan National Certification.

Around 100 participants attended the programme, which focused on improving clinical competency and promoting child-friendly healthcare practices, they said.

The event was facilitated by JIPMER Director Vir Singh Negi and Medical Superintendent Saka Vinod Kumar.

Medical Superintendent (Ag.) Gowri Dorairajan inaugurated the workshop and stressed the importance of quality-driven healthcare services for children.

Mrs M Sengamalarselvi, DNS-cum-Quality Manager and MusQan Coordinator, welcomed the gathering, while Officer In Charge of Nursing Services Ms K Pushpalatha delivered the inaugural address. Dr R Usha Devi and Dr Nivedita Mondal felicitated the participants.

Technical sessions included lectures on NQAS and MusQan certification standards, child-friendly healthcare, child sexual abuse care under POCSO guidelines, ETAT protocols, and vaccine management by experts from the institute.

Hands-on training sessions on paediatric and neonatal resuscitation, trauma care, triage management, Kangaroo Mother Care, and quality management were also conducted during the workshop, officials added.
