Puducherry: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has started free registration and on-site printing of the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card for the public as part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
The ABHA card is a unique 14-digit interoperable digital health ID that enables citizens to link and manage their medical records digitally, facilitating seamless healthcare access across India.
The ABDM, a flagship initiative of the Government of India, aims to establish a comprehensive digital health ecosystem. It allows every citizen to securely store and share their health records with healthcare providers, improving continuity of care and reducing duplication of tests.
Dr. Vir Singh Negi, Director of JIPMER, said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of creating a technology-driven and inclusive healthcare system. “ABHA is a transformative step towards building a robust digital health infrastructure across the nation. We urge the public to actively utilize this service and be part of India's digital health revolution,” he said.
Beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) can also link their health records through ABHA for cashless, paperless treatment at empanelled hospitals.
Citizens can avail the facility by bringing their Aadhaar card and linked mobile number for verification. Registration counters are operational during office hours at JIPMER's Screening OPD, RCC Block, Women & Children's Hospital, Institute Block and Super Speciality Block.
