Puducherry: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has secured the fourth position in the Medical Colleges category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, climbing one spot from its fifth rank last year.

The rankings were released on Thursday by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi. The NIRF, introduced by the Ministry of Education in 2015, evaluates institutions on five parameters—teaching, learning and resources; research and professional practice; graduation outcomes; outreach and inclusivity; and perception.

Congratulating the JIPMER community on the achievement, Director Dr. Vir Singh Negi said the institute's consistent progress reflects its commitment to excellence in medical education and research.

“JIPMER has been consistently striving to enhance its teaching infrastructure and adopt innovative learning methods. This recognition reflects our dedication to nurturing future leaders in medicine who will serve humanity with compassion,” he said.

AIIMS New Delhi retained the top rank in the Medical category for the eighth consecutive year, followed by PGIMER Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore. JIPMER moved up to fourth place this year, while Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, rounded off the top five.
