Puducherry: The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) at JIPMER organized a patient and public awareness programme today to mark World Cerebral Palsy Day, fostering dialogue and support for individuals and families affected by the condition.

The event provided a collaborative platform for participants to share experiences, promote awareness, and discuss both challenges and achievements within the cerebral palsy (CP) community. Faculty and staff from the PMR department offered expert guidance on various treatment methods and conducted an interactive session addressing questions from children with CP and their parents.

The programme was held under the guidance of Dr. Vir Singh Negi, Director of JIPMER, and Dr. Saka Vinodkumar, Medical Superintendent. The event featured insights from Chief Guest Dr. Jagadish Menon, Officiating Medical Superintendent, along with Dr. Suresh Gandhi, Head of Orthopaedics, Dr. Nivedita Mondal, Professor of Paediatrics, and representatives from the Rotary Club of Pondicherry.

Dr. Navin Kumar, Head of the Department of PMR, presided over the event, while Dr. V. Padmapriyadarsini, Assistant Professor of PMR, coordinated the programme. Members and students from Satya Special School also participated, highlighting community engagement and inclusive awareness efforts.
