Raipur: A principal and two female teachers of the Centre-run Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) have been suspended for allegedly misbehaving with a girl student in Chhattisgarh's Korba district.

The school management has suspended C Kanamma, the principal and Alka Nayak and Savitri Tripathi, the teachers, of the school at Salora village under Katghora development block in connection with their alleged misbehaviour with the class IX student, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Katghora, Vijendra Patle said today.

Several students of the school had earlier staged a protest demanding removal of the trio for allegedly ill-treating the girl and making derogatory remarks against her last week.

In the preliminary investigation, it was found that Kanamma, Nayak and Tripathi had allegedly beaten up the girl and made some casteist and obscene remarks against her, Patle said, adding the classmates of the girl and other students protested against the trio for their act.

The students also alleged the accused teachers frequently misbehaved with them and provided them with sub-standard in the boarding school, he said.

Keeping in view the seriousness of the charges, Bhopal-based authority of the JNV was informed about the matter following which they took action against them, he said.
