Bhubaneswar (Odisha): KIIT Deemed to be University has climbed to the 184th position in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2025, marking a significant rise from its previous rank of 196. The Bhubaneswar-based institution now stands 8th among all Indian universities, both public and private.
The latest rankings evaluated 853 universities across 35 countries based on 18 performance indicators covering research, teaching, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. KIIT also holds the distinction of being the top-ranked deemed university in Eastern and Northern India and is ranked 2nd in India in the subject of Sports Science.
Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS, attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of the university's faculty, staff, students, alumni, and supporters. “This recognition reflects the mission-driven spirit that defines KIIT,” he said.
Despite being just 27 years old and attaining deemed university status only 21 years ago, KIIT has consistently featured in major global rankings such as THE World University Rankings and QS Rankings. It also holds international accreditations including ABET and IET, solidifying its global standing in higher education.
