New Delhi: Over 14.96 crore people across the country have benefitted from legal awareness programmes organised by Legal Services Authorities in the last three years, the government informed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said a total of 13.83 lakh programmes were conducted between 2022-25, covering key legal topics related to children, labourers, disaster victims, SCs/STs, persons with disabilities, and more.

The outreach included dissemination of simple-language pamphlets and booklets, the Minister said.

As part of the pan-India scheme Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice (DISHA) (2021-26), the Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Programme (LLLAP) has been implemented to spread legal education. Under the initiative, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material has been developed in 22 scheduled languages and dialects of the North Eastern States.

Between September 2021 and October 2023, 56 television programmes in six languages were telecast in collaboration with Doordarshan, reaching over 70.7 lakh people. Additionally, 20 webinars were conducted during this period, with the 21st National Webinar on Cyber Crime held on July 10, 2025. These are also accessible via social media platforms, Meghwal said.

He added that the total outreach of the LLLAP initiative has crossed 1 crore citizens and similar programmes will continue in the coming years.
