Chennai: Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University has announced admissions for its five-year integrated undergraduate law programmes for the academic year 2025-26.

The courses are offered across government and private law colleges in the state, with the last date to apply set for May 31.

Government law colleges affiliated to the university include Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, which operates campuses in Chennai, Pudupakkam and Pattaraiperumbudur, along with colleges in Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Villupuram, Dharmapuri, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Namakkal, Theni and Karaikudi.

The university offers the standard B.A.LL.B. (five-year) course, along with four honours programmes through its flagship institution, Sirmiku Law School in Chennai. These include B.A.LL.B. (Hons), B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons), B.C.A.LL.B. (Hons) and B.Com.LL.B. (Hons).

Eligibility for honours programmes requires a minimum of 70% marks in the Class 12 examination, while candidates from SC/ST categories need at least 60%. For the general B.A.LL.B. course, the eligibility is 45%, and 40% for SC/ST candidates. There is no upper age limit for admission.

Importantly, students are not required to appear for the CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) for admission to these institutions, as selection is based solely on Class 12 marks, in line with Tamil Nadu government regulations. Caste-based and special category reservations will apply.

Students can also benefit from several government scholarship schemes, including those for SC/ST, BC/MBC communities, children of farmers, and meritorious students under the Chief Minister's and Prime Minister's scholarship programmes. The Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme is also available.
