Chennai: The Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has cleared eight new projects with a total investment of ₹40.55 crore, which are expected to create 2,951 jobs across Tamil Nadu, including opportunities for 30 transgender persons.

The projects were approved during the Unit Approval Committee (UAC) meeting held recently under the chairmanship of Thiru Alex Paul Menon, Zonal Development Commissioner, MEPZ SEZ.

According to an official release, the approved projects span manufacturing, IT/ITES, logistics, and warehousing sectors.

Key investments include Inventurus Knowledge Solutions Ltd. which will invest ₹11.87 crore to provide employment to 1,647 people at the KGISL SEZ, Coimbatore; Infosys Ltd., which will expand its operations at Sholinganallur SEZ with an investment of ₹5 crore creating 1,000 jobs; and Quinte Financial Technologies, which will bring in ₹1.1 crore investment to the ELCOT SEZ, Trichy, generating 130 jobs.

Invigo Tea Pvt. Ltd. will invest ₹5 crore in Tuticorin SEZ, creating 70 jobs.

Officials highlighted that Inventurus Knowledge Solutions Ltd. will offer employment to 30 transgender individuals, marking a significant step towards inclusive growth and workplace diversity.

The MEPZ SEZ said that the new projects will boost economic growth while promoting social empowerment in the state.
