Nagpur: A fourth-year BA LLB student of Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) has been booked for allegedly ragging her junior roommate, police said on Friday.

The case was registered at Butibori police station based on a complaint filed by a professor, an official said.

According to the complaint, the second-year student had been subjected to harassment and mental distress for several months. The accused allegedly forced the victim to keep the ceiling fan running at high speed during winter despite her suffering from cold, cough and fever.

In one instance, the accused reportedly refused to reduce the fan speed even after a security guard was sent by the hostel warden to intervene, the official said.

Police registered the offence based on findings of the university's Anti-Ragging Committee, he added.

Further investigation is underway, police said.
