Chennai: Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Santosh Kumar Sarangi and CSIR Director General and DSIR Secretary Dr. N Kalaiselvi on Monday visited the CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) and CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI) unit at the CSIR Madras Complex.

The visit also saw participation from CSIR-CLRI Director Dr. K J Sreeram, CSIR-CECRI Director Dr. K Ramesha and National Institute of Wind Energy DG Dr. Rajesh Katyal.

CSIR-SERC Director Dr. N Anandavalli made a presentation on the centre's achievements and proposed R&D initiatives, while Principal Scientist Dr. M Keerthana briefed the delegation on multidisciplinary R&D activities in renewable energy. The discussion included advancements in wind energy (offshore and onshore), solar energy (land-based and floating systems) and hydroelectric solutions, along with ongoing research on carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

Dr. Ramesha also detailed CSIR-CECRI's contributions and activities. The dignitaries interacted with scientists from both institutes on future research directions.
