Nanded (Maharashtra): The Nanded police have initiated a series of programs to educate students on cyber safety and protection against sexual offences, officials said.
Under the 'Mission Sahyog' umbrella, the initiative includes multiple public awareness and safety campaigns.
'Mission Nirbhaya' focuses on school students, covering topics such as safe social media use, traffic discipline, self-defence, legal awareness—including the Arms Act, laws against eve-teasing and ragging—understanding good and bad touch, dangers of narcotic substances, and moral values. Cyber police personnel visited a local educational institute on Wednesday to conduct an interactive session addressing cybercrime, drug abuse, road safety, and protection of women and children.
'Mission Samadhan' aims to enhance the safety of women and girl students through a QR code-based complaint registration system and includes guidance and training sessions. A national-level panel discussion with experts is planned as the final phase.
The programs intend to train nearly 50,000 students from city coaching institutes, 10,000 college and postgraduate students, 20,000 school and college students, and about 1,500 teachers. Around 5,000 girls and children will receive self-defence training, while 2,000 police personnel and government lawyers will undergo specialised training for timely investigation of sexual offence cases.
Awareness sessions for parents and families are also planned. The first phase of the initiative is expected to benefit nearly one lakh participants, with a second phase targeting rural areas, the release said.
