New Delhi: Several National Institutes of Technology (NITs) have expanded their undergraduate offerings by introducing new-age BTech programmes aligned with emerging technologies, providing students with more specialised academic options.

While traditional branches such as Computer Science and core engineering continue to remain popular, institutes have increasingly rolled out courses in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning and VLSI Design in recent years.

Institutes such as NIT Delhi, NIT Rourkela and NIT Kurukshetra have launched dedicated programmes in these domains, with limited seat intake aimed at focused training. NIT Karnataka, NIT Warangal and NIT Calicut have also introduced specialised streams in AI and data-driven technologies.

NIT Tiruchirappalli has introduced a BTech in Data Science from the 2025-26 academic session, while NIT Silchar offers a specialised programme in Artificial Intelligence.

Admissions to these programmes will be conducted through JoSAA and CSAB counselling based on JEE Main ranks. Experts advise candidates to carefully evaluate these emerging options during choice filling, citing strong career opportunities in high-demand sectors.
