Chennai: Students who have completed their schooling through open school systems are also eligible for admission to pharmacy courses, including B.Pharm, D.Pharm and Pharm.D, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has said.
In a circular issued to all state governments and state pharmacy councils, the PCI clarified that, as per existing regulations, students from open schools should be admitted to undergraduate and diploma pharmacy programmes.
At present, admissions to pharmacy courses are largely restricted to students who have studied under regular State and Central Board syllabi.
The council's clarification is aimed at ensuring uniform implementation of admission norms across the country and preventing the exclusion of eligible candidates who have completed their education through recognised open school systems.
