Chennai: Under the skill development program for rural youth, 1,333 people in Tamil Nadu received training during the last financial year, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Ram Nath Thakur said in the Lok Sabha.

Launched in 2015-16, the scheme provides short-term, skill-based training to rural youth, including farmers in agriculture-based industrial areas. Over 86,000 rural youth have benefited nationwide.

In Dharmapuri district, nine training programs were conducted from 2020-21 to 2024-25, training 220 farmers, with annual participation ranging from 28 to 56 individuals, the Minister added.
