Speaking on the sidelines of ICTACT Placement Directors Conclave 2016 in Le Meridien, Chennai, 23rd Feb 2016, Mr. Vijay Iyer, Chief Business Officer, HCL TalentCare said, "Several studies indicate that a large proportion (upward of 75%) of new college graduates do not possess the skills required to be readily employable in roles for which they seek to be hired. Industry addresses these gaps through large investments in training, internships, shadow assignments, bench strength and other methods to make new hires job-ready and productive. An additional complexity is high levels of attrition in the entry-level (0-3 year experience) workforce, leading to expensive and repetitive cycle of hiring, training, staffing and replacement for the same role."
He also added, "HCL TalentCareaims to have a deeper engagement with all the colleges in Tamil Nadu to bridge the ‘talent-divide’ through skill development of students and delivering job-ready professionals to the industry so that they are productive from Day One. Currently we have two state-of-the-art training facilities running in Chennai and Hyderabad."
The conclave was a key platform for the Training & Placement officers and the Academic leaders to create specific focused initiatives on improving the employability skills of the students. The conclave also highlighted the accreditation and engagement process followed by the various large recruiters.
