New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on more youth to join the National Cadet Corps (NCC), emphasizing their pivotal role in shaping a developed India.

Speaking during the 116th episode of his 'Mann Ki Baat' radio program, the Prime Minister underlined the significant contributions young people can make to the nation's growth.

Modi highlighted the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between India and Guyana, pointing out that Guyana, often called "Mini Bharat," is home to a large Indian-origin population.

Over 180 years ago, Indians were brought to Guyana to work in the fields, and today, they are leading in various sectors, including politics.

In his address, Modi urged the youth to take an active role in the country's progress, noting that their energy, skills, and commitment are crucial for India's future. He also mentioned the upcoming celebration of Swami Vivekananda's 162nd birth anniversary on January 12, marking National Youth Day. On this occasion, a major youth conference will be held, aimed at connecting politically uninvolved youth with the political process.

In his appreciation for local initiatives, the Prime Minister commended Tamil Nadu's efforts to protect sparrows.

He praised Gududus, a voluntary organization in Chennai, for its initiative to build nests with the help of students. These wooden nests, placed on the exteriors of buildings including school campuses, provide crucial support for sparrow breeding.
