New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025 at Bharat Mandapam here on Tuesday, commemorating five years of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Organised by the Ministry of Education, the day-long event will bring together academicians, policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to review the implementation of NEP 2020 and outline the future course of educational transformation in India. The agenda includes thematic sessions on secondary education reform, Bharatiya Bhasha, Indian Knowledge Systems, and the use of AI in education.

The event will also witness the launch of new initiatives, campus inaugurations, and foundation stone-laying ceremonies, alongside a multimedia exhibition showcasing best practices in education.

In the last five years, NEP 2020 has introduced sweeping changes in higher and school education. Over 170 universities have adopted the National Credit Framework, while the Academic Bank of Credit has onboarded 2,469 institutions, issuing over 32 crore IDs. The UGC-approved multiple entry-exit system is now in place in 153 universities, with biannual admissions gaining traction.

Technology-driven learning has seen major growth, with 1,149 ODL programmes and 544 online courses reaching lakhs of students. Platforms like SWAYAM, SAMARTH, and ONOS are streamlining academic operations and improving access to learning resources and governance.

In school education, schemes like PM SHRI, NIPUN Bharat, ULLAS, and PM POSHAN are showing measurable gains in foundational literacy and inclusivity. Assessment mechanisms such as PARAKH and NAS have enhanced monitoring, while the expansion of SWAYAM PRABHA now offers 200 educational TV channels in 30 languages.

ABSS 2025 will set the vision for the next decade of reforms, focusing on 100% Gross Enrolment Ratio by 2030, deeper industry-academia ties, vocational education, and sustainable learning pathways.
