Gurugram: Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Thursday underlined the importance of strengthening primary education, saying the stronger the foundation, the brighter the nation's future.

The governor made the remarks while interacting with parents during his visit to two Government Sanskriti Model Primary Schools for girls at Ghamroj-Alipur and Kanhai villages in Gurugram district. Accompanied by his wife Mitra Ghosh, he inspected the facilities and engaged with students, teachers, and parents.

According to an official statement, Ghosh said that as governor, he is the chancellor of state universities but also pays special attention to primary education. He stressed the need to improve facilities for children and encouraged greater interaction between parents and teachers to discuss education.

He urged parents to provide suggestions for improving the education system and school facilities, seeking support from Panchayati Raj institutions and local bodies.

The governor also spoke to students about studies and sports, inspected mid-day meal provisions, drinking water, and toilets, and viewed a student exhibition. He discussed syllabus and curriculum matters with teachers.

At Kanhai school, Ghosh announced a financial grant of Rs 50,000 from his personal fund to reward students securing the top three positions in sports. At Ghamroj-Alipur, he planted saplings to promote environmental conservation.
