Chennai: IIT Madras faculty, Prof. Thalappil Pradeep, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, United States for his contributions to cluster chemistry and affordable drinking water solutions. The induction will take place at the NAE's annual meeting on September 29, 2024. The NAE is a prestigious institution focused on engineering leadership, and Prof. Pradeep's election recognizes his outstanding work. His research in nanotechnology for water purification, including pesticide removal, has garnered national and international acclaim. Prof. Pradeep expressed humility and credited his team, institution, and nation for the achievement. He has received various awards, including the Padma Shri and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, and holds over 100 patents. His innovative technologies for water purification have been approved for national implementation and are being extended to other countries.
