Puducherry: Pondicherry University (PU), in association with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, conducted a Digital India Awareness Workshop titled 'Digital India Talk Show' to promote awareness of national digital initiatives among students and faculty.

The event featured expert-led sessions on DigiLocker, Cybersecurity and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, UMANG, the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)/NAD-APAAR frameworks, and the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. P Prakash Babu, addressing the gathering as chief guest, highlighted the transformative role of Digital India in building a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. Citing examples such as Aadhaar, UPI, JAM trinity, ABC-NAD, APAAR ID and BharatNet, he underscored the impact of digital infrastructure in improving governance and public service delivery.

Other speakers included Prof. P Natarajan, Dean, Prof. P.G. Arul, Director (I/C), MMTTC, and Prof. S.K.V. Jayakumar, Head (I/C), Computer Centre, who elaborated on NeGD's role in stakeholder capacity building and digital empowerment.

Over 200 students and faculty participated in the event, which facilitated interactive sessions with government experts. A Digital India Quiz was also conducted to engage participants, with winners receiving Digital India gift hampers.

Prof. Jayakumar proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to dignitaries, NeGD officials, and participants for their enthusiastic involvement.

The workshop served as a platform for academia-government dialogue, enhancing awareness about digital governance and emerging career opportunities in the tech sector.
