Leh: State Bank of India (SBI) has donated a school bus to the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR), Leh, under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The vehicle was formally handed over to NISR Director Dr Padma Gurmet by SBI's Chandigarh Circle Chief General Manager Krishan Sharma at a function held in Leh on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy General Manager (Business and Operations), J&K Zone, Jayant Mani, Chief Manager of SBI Leh branch Anil Tondon, senior bank officials, faculty, staff and students of the institute.

Expressing gratitude, Gurmet thanked SBI for the contribution and highlighted the institute's ongoing activities for public welfare.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma reiterated SBI's commitment to community welfare and said the bank would continue to support institutions engaged in public service and regional development.

The initiative reflects SBI's efforts to contribute to the socio-economic development of Ladakh through its CSR programmes, officials said.
