Gurugram: SGT University, Gurugram, in collaboration with the University of Lucknow, University of Jammu, Vinoba Bhave University and Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna, hosted the Higher Education Leaders Conclave 2025 to commemorate five years of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Themed “Reimagining Indian Education: Legacy, Policy, and Nation-Building in the Light of NEP 2020,” the conclave saw participation from over 40 academic leaders, vice-chancellors, and education policymakers. The event focused on strategies for effective NEP implementation, innovation, educational equity and future readiness in Indian higher education.

SGT University Chancellor and Padma Bhushan awardee Shri Ram Bahadur Rai launched the UGC-entitled “SGTU Online” platform during the event, calling for a reduction in bureaucracy to enable meaningful reforms.

Key speakers included Prof. Hemant Verma (SGT University), Prof. Umesh Rai (University of Jammu), Prof. Parmendra Kumar Bajpai (Jai Prakash University), and Shri Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, former MP and Vice Chairperson of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, who stressed that NEP's success hinges on its grassroots implementation.

In the valedictory session, Shri Najeeb Jung, former Lt. Governor of Delhi, said that while technology and policy are enablers, true educational reform depends on empathy, values, and strengthening the teacher-student bond.

The event concluded with the launch of “Educating India: Colonialism and Indigenous Knowledge Traditions, c. 1780-1900” by Prof. Amit K. Suman.
