Success in competitive exams like NEET and JEE hinges not only on subject knowledge but also on strong problem-solving skills in physics, chemistry, mathematics, and biology. Similarly, for civil service exams like IAS and IPS, candidates must score at least 50% in the problem-solving ability test for their written exam papers to be considered.

Clearly, problem-solving is a key competency required for top roles in society. Students aspiring to join technologically advanced companies must focus on honing these skills—and that journey begins with mastering mathematics.

To excel, it's not enough to study hard. Students must actively absorb and understand what teachers explain in the classroom. Developing this ability to grasp concepts deeply is essential.

Unfortunately, Tamil Nadu continues to trail behind in the JEE exam. In last year's JEE results, 17,670 students were admitted to top institutions like the IITs—but only 545 were from Tamil Nadu. In contrast, Rajasthan saw 2,760 admissions, Andhra Pradesh 2,228, Telangana 2,003, Maharashtra 1,846, and Uttar Pradesh 1,765. These five states alone accounted for 61% of admissions, while the rest of the country shared the remaining 39%.

Tamil Nadu's participation in top institutions, including NITs, is also on the decline. One key reason is that the JEE is not a descriptive exam; it focuses on conceptual understanding and the application of problem-solving strategies.

To bridge this gap, we need dedicated teachers who can effectively teach core subjects in Tamil from Class 6 to 10. Serious and consistent preparation using the right resources, along with the ability to absorb concepts, is crucial for cracking competitive exams. Without this commitment, students may struggle to progress to the next level.
