Chennai: For the benefit of final  year engineering students to prepare for civil services, the Anna University plans to introduce a special training for the aspiring students.

As a result of the recent global economic meltdown, the job market in the field of IT  has been greatly affected. The companies are yet to recruit successful candidates who had been earlier given offer letters.

The Anna University (Chennai), plans to provide special training for civil services like IAS, IPS to confront  this recession phase.

The curriculum would not have any changes, but a special training module is being studied, Prof P.Mannar Jawahar said.

In a collaborative effort with the Centre for Industry Institute Collaboration, the varsity is preparing a system to train the final year students desiring to opt either for IAS, IPS or even Indian engineering services (IES), he added.

Following the recent directions from University Grants Commission, the varsity had instructed all the affiliated colleges to place a black box to receive complaints on ragging from the victim students.

The university had issued a show cause notice to 51 engineering colleges for lack of infrastructure. “We are expecting their reply. If their reply is not satisfactory, the university will send an expert committee again to inspect and further action will be taken if necessasary,” vice-chancellor said.

So far, 1,55,000 application forms for engineering admission in through single window admission has been issued .
