Chennai: An alarming discovery has been made regarding the quality of medicines available in the market.
A recent inspection by the Central and State Drug Quality Control Boards has revealed that 22 medicines, both substandard and counterfeit, are circulating in the market. Immediate action has been taken in response.
Regular monthly inspections conducted by the Central and State Drug Quality Control Boards ensure the safety and efficacy of drugs sold across the country.
During the latest inspection, conducted last month, 17 medicines, including those used to treat fever, digestive disorders, and bacterial infections, were found to be of substandard quality.
Additionally, five drugs prescribed for conditions such as high blood pressure and bacterial infections were identified as counterfeit.
In response to these findings, detailed information about the substandard and spurious medicines has been made available on the official website of the Central Drug Quality Control Board: https://cdsco.gov.in/.
Officials from the Drug Quality Control Board have assured the public that appropriate action will be taken against the companies responsible for manufacturing and distributing these compromised medicines.
