Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin distributed appointment orders to 2,538 candidates recruited for various civil and technical positions in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department.
The recruitment drive aims to fill key vacancies in departments including the Directorates of Municipal Administration and Town Panchayats, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD), Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), and the Greater Chennai Corporation.
The posts include assistant engineers (civil and planning), junior engineers, technical assistants, draftsmen, work supervisors, town planning inspectors, work inspectors and sanitation inspectors.
According to officials, a total of 1.12 lakh applications were received for the recruitment drive. Of them, 6,606 candidates were shortlisted for counselling held between February 28 and April 2 this year. Based on merit and communal rotation, 2,538 were selected for appointment.
Speaking at the function held in Nandambakkam, Stalin said the new appointments would help expedite civic infrastructure projects and enhance service delivery in urban areas.
